Transparency Over Gut Feeling – PROXIA MES at Mark Metallwaren

Industry

Mark Metallwarenfabrik GmbH, based in Spital am Pyhrn, is one of the region’s leading industrial companies with around 300 employees. For over 90 years, the company has specialized in deep drawing metal parts. High-precision series production in large quantities is primarily carried out for the automotive and supplier industries—including sensor housings, threaded sleeves, and headlight end pieces. Stability, repeatability, and absolute on-time delivery are key production requirements.

Problem

As the company grew, so did the demands for transparency and control in production. Gut feeling was no longer enough to reliably interpret production data. What was missing were up-to-date key figures to make informed decisions, minimize production downtime, and continuously improve processes. Manual collection of BDE and MDE data was error-prone and left no room for proactive action—a clear competitive disadvantage in an international environment.

Solution

With the implementation of the PROXIA MES software, including modules for machine and shop floor data collection (MDE/BDE), a modern digital infrastructure was established. Within just a few months, 30 machines were integrated, and the system was successfully connected to the proALPHA ERP system. Special attention was given to the user-friendliness of the terminals to ensure acceptance among long-time employees. Even during the testing phase, initial productivity gains became apparent. Through proactive feedback and a structured action management approach, the system was continuously adapted to meet real-world requirements.

Result

Today, Mark Metallwarenfabrik receives precise real-time production data—directly from the shop floor. Employees can identify delays more quickly, resolve disruptions more effectively, and actively contribute to the continuous improvement process. Digital feedback has completely replaced the error-prone use of job travelers. Visible key figures foster team spirit and boost productivity. Managing Director Rudolf Mark is already planning to expand the system to additional facilities and to extend it toward maintenance and detailed planning—for an even higher degree of automation and maximum future readiness.
