How can you combine the advantages of central data storage with those of cloud-based data storage? The critical component: Distributed Data Architecture (DDA technology). PROXIA MES-Software makes use of precisely this technology. Thus, every company is free to decide which data is stored locally and which in the cloud.
Specifically, critical, sensitive data stays within the “walls of the enterprise” and non-critical data, such as certain telemetry data from equipment, can be stored off-site. By using an MQTT gateway (Message Queuing Telemetry Transport), the data can even be written directly to the cloud if required.

Know-how-relevant and time-critical data (e.g. movement data of production orders) are stored in the local company database with the help of PROXIA’s data storage architecture DDA. Rarely required archive data and, above all, non-critical and context-free data are ideal for provisioning in an external cloud.
The full integration of OPC-UA, the communication architecture for Industrie 4.0, and protocols such as MTConnect and MQTT not only increasingly standardizes the connection of machines and plants, but also allows PROXIA users to freely choose which type of data to store and where (local database or cloud). This sets the further steps towards Industry 4.0 and for all upcoming requirements on the way to the Smart Factory.
Why choose for or against the cloud when you can have both?
Scalable storage solutions through the use of state-of-the-art cloud technologies
Sensitive and time-critical data stays in your company’s private core database
Cloud data provisioning for targeted external use outside the company
Compliance with the highest data protection guidelines combined with the greatest possible flexibility and storage scaling
Hybrid operation of both concepts as the basis for Industrie 4.0: secure, scalable, flexible and fully comprehensive
The customer-oriented, new “SaaS concept” (Software as a Service) is very much in vogue and focuses in particular on the Industrie 4.0 idea. This means that the software is hosted and offered by an external service provider, e.g. on your own premises. The customer only obtains the service via the Internet and no longer has to worry about the hardware.
As it seems, an ideal solution. Nevertheless, the question arises whether all data must or even should be managed in this way? PROXIA has a sensible and practicable solution with its hybrid cloud concept.
