Traceability

Traceability describes the ability to seamlessly document and trace production and quality data across all process steps. It is particularly important for industries with high quality and safety requirements such as food, pharmaceuticals and automotive.
MES systems support traceability by collecting data from PDC, MDC, CAQ and other modules and managing it in a central database.

Example:
A food manufacturer uses an MES with integrated traceability to identify all affected batches and their distribution channels within minutes in the event of a product recall.
