PDA (production data acquisition)
Production data acquisition (PDA) refers to the automated recording, processing and evaluation of relevant production data within a company. Typical PDC systems collect information such as working times, machine running times, downtimes, quantities, reject quantities and machine utilization. This data provides complete transparency of production processes and makes it possible to quickly identify and optimize inefficient processes.
Thanks to modern interfaces, PDA systems integrate seamlessly into existing IT environments, including ERP and MES solutions. By digitizing and automating data collection, sources of error can be minimized, manual effort reduced and decision-making processes supported with precise real-time data.
Example:
A medium-sized automotive supplier uses PDA systems to record machine utilization and working times in real time. This enables production bottlenecks to be identified at an early stage and capacity planning to be optimized.
