Proof of Concept (PoC)

A proof of concept (PoC) is a test project that is used to validate the feasibility, benefits and cost-effectiveness of a new technology or solution before it is fully implemented.
In industrial IT, a PoC is often used to test the integration of a new MES module, an IoT sensor system or AI-based analysis tools. This minimizes the risk of bad investments.

Example:
An automotive supplier carries out a PoC to test a new detailed planning module in the MES. After successful validation, the module is used productively, leading to a significant reduction in throughput times.
