Lean Production

Lean production pursues the goal of avoiding waste in production, designing processes efficiently and maximizing customer benefits.
By using methods such as 5S, just-in-time (JIT), Kanban and continuous improvement, resources are used optimally, throughput times are shortened and production quality is increased. MES systems support lean production principles by creating transparency and improving the flow of information.

Example:
An automotive supplier uses lean methods and an MES to minimize stock levels. Thanks to just-in-time deliveries and optimized production planning, the company is able to improve its delivery capability and reduce costs.
