MDE (machine data acquisition)
Machine data acquisition (MDA) describes the automated acquisition and monitoring of real-time data from machines and systems. Recorded data includes, for example, running times, downtimes, performance values and fault messages.
MDC systems enable a detailed analysis of machine performance, support fault diagnosis and contribute to the optimization of production processes. The combination with MES systems creates complete transparency of the machinery and the production process.
Example:
A plastics processor uses MDC systems to monitor the utilization and downtimes of its injection moulding machines. By analyzing the PDC data, frequent causes of faults are identified and rectified, which significantly increases the overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
